im brad. i love raleigh, nc. this is a shrine to the sea, literature, and my girlfriend, rachel.
• your grandma’s class ring that you never take off
• your flower-like aura
• the scar on your chest
• our picturesque image that we give off when we’re together
• your giggle, like a match that lights a candle in my heart
• your skepticism that matches mine
• the random bruises on your tender legs
• the way you care so much about what I think
• your clinginess
• your powerful smile
• your puppy-dog sad face and your watery eyes
• the way you look at me when you miss me
A dark and gloomy storm peeps over the sea,
The shores unknowing what is to come,
The shells that gather stare at me.
The singing of the gulls grow faint and faint,
The population of this town is becoming quaint.
A dark and gloomy storm charging from the sea.
The shells tell me of their fear
While I watch the birds flee.
I see the fishermen on the dock,
Their lives now seemed but a
countdown on a clock.
A dark an gloomy storm rumbles over head,
I feel the winds as I return home,
This desolate town has timidly fled.
I sit inside as I hear the rain
Pattering as if expressing its pain.
I fall asleep while I write this story
And dream of peace during all of these worries.
